The merging of two historic buildings into a modern office center will be highlighted by a wide, transparent stylobate connecting the structures and an imposing glass volume soaring above. An open terrace will prevent the new addition from overpowering the original buildings.
STORY#0073
History and Formation
The concept is related to the preservation of historic buildings and the integration of new, modern elements. One approach to this type of design is to add a raised volume, or "cloud," of office space to the building, while preserving the original scale and character of the historic structure. This can provide relief from additions that might otherwise overwhelm the original design, and allow for the integration of modern amenities without compromising the integrity of the historic building.

It is important to carefully consider the design of any additions to a historic building, in order to ensure that they respect the original architecture and do not detract from its historical significance.
District viewpoint
The upcoming office center project will merge two historic buildings into one large-scale complex. The buildings, formerly part of the Giraud factory, will be stripped down to their red brick exteriors.

A modern stylobate will connect the two buildings, providing space for retail shops. The new office building will be fully glazed and will soar above the stylobate, separated from the historic buildings by an open terrace.

Despite its size, the modern building will not overpower the historic structures, thanks to the open terrace that separates them. This unique design will preserve the historic buildings while also giving them a new purpose as anchors for the site.
